Hey, Rose! Nice to hear from you. I think you're right about the food as well. We're so much less discerning when we're children.

The movie and TV thing is a bit more complicated, though, because, as with my example of Mary Tyler Moore, there were legions of adult fans who loved the show, so it's not just my teenage remembrances. There is a shift in the type of comedy that's around, and I don't know, maybe people who were in their twenties and thirties when the show was on still love it. But I just know that, for me, that type of humour doesn't work anymore.

Hey remember me? Lol. Ah Eric, so nice to see another post from you. As usual, it's been too long! Even having been twice warned about the contents of your post, I still found it entertaining :) I totally know what you're talking about, and it's kinda sad isn't it. I think this happens with a lot of things like books that you read when you were little, that were so exciting at the time and are just now so unrealistic and silly... and even food! I think pot noodles used to be so much better years ago when I had them in my early teens- now they're horrible (though I guess the recipe has changed over the years, but really that much?!). Haha maybe that doesn't count. I remember I used to love watching The Adventures of Superman and I thought it was amazing, but now it's terribly cheesy and the guy is a no-no! lol

But yeah, I think as you sorta mentioned, music seems to be a bit of an exception for whatever reason, which is cool cos you remember why you enjoyed it so much and reminds you of certain points in the past when u were listening to it at the time. Sometimes I wish life did stay as exciting as it is when you're young.

Hello,
I came across your site when looking for more info about Gagnon. I had fired up the school record player to play some LPs including Saga bought new in 1974.
I love that clip of Les forges de St-Maurice. It looks like a 22 Minutes sketch of Canadian TV.
Thanks.

Yay I'm a P&P fan! I've not heard much about this film but you have me interested now. Might just have to go check it out, keeping your cinematic notes in mind!

Very cool Eric. Can't wait to see how this progresses. I saw Andy (yeah, I'm that tight with him) twice I think. We were probably all at the same Cohn concert I bet, and never even knew it.

I think I saw him in concert at the Cohn three or four times back in the day. He used to tour a lot. Sometimes he had a band with him, sometimes he played with the symphony, and sometimes he just played the piano with no other accompaniment. It was always awesome, though.

It'll be incredible to visit his hometown.

Hey Eric - both Marc and I are Andre Gagnon fans. I actually saw him in concert at the Cohn in the early 80s. Have a major fun time!

Have I ever mentioned how awesomesauce I think you are? Cuz I do.

(Please don't cringe at my informal vernacular. Like your use of 'fuck', it is intentional and serves a purpose :P)

Yay! Another blog post from you. And also sad cuz it reminds me mine's down at the moment.

Glad you liked the vid and found it as mind-blowing as I'd hoped you would. I agree some changes to the English language make me cringe. One of my tutored students said the teacher said it was fine if they use "+" instead of "and" in formal writing, confirmed by parent and I am sad. Lol.

Love the list, I am guilty of editing as I write now and again but in my defense it's more to stop me from writing myself into a corner as I so often do.
